This premium room is one of our more romantic Honeymoon Suites named after the lookout basket suspended near the top of the mast on the old sailing clippers once built here in Saint John. Redecorated in 2007 with rich gold accents the Crowsnest Hideaway offers the finest Homeport has to offer. As the name implies this three room suite is tucked away high in the house under the eaves and is a profusion of angles and corners creating a rambling and secluded retreat.
The dominating feature of this room is a very impressive 1820's Sleigh Bed with the original finish, now converted to accommodate a queen size bed, this piece always creates a stir. There is a ''step back" chest of drawers from the later Empire Revival period. We have also thought of the business traveler with a large Empire Revival c1870 library work table. This furniture style is increasingly more difficult to find today and has not been widely copied over the years so it is nice to be able to see and use the real thing.
The unique ''L" shape sitting room with skylight has great views of the city and harbour, a cozy TV area, large work space and an efficiency kitchen with microwave, fridge and sink. This room can easily accommodate an extra person or couple on the pullout sofabed. The very large, private bathroom has a double whirlpool tub under a skylight and a separate full size standup shower.
